Queen Mother Dr. Delois Blakely, born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has been an American nun; is a writer and activist. She is the successor of Queen Mother Audley Moore. She was recognized as the Queen Mother of the naming ceremony of the African Burial Ground National Monument by the U.S. National Park Service and Department of the Interior in 2003.[citation needed] She attended the unveiling ceremony of the United Nations’ permanent memorial “The Ark of Return” on March 25, 2015.[1][2] As a goodwill ambassador to Africa at the United Nations, she claims to represent the 55 million displaced Africans of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade,[citation needed] and calls for reparations for slavery. She has published books and articles on self-reliance, education, recreation, and culture.
