ABOUT US

OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE A NEW GENERATION OF PEACEMAKERS

The UNESCO Center for Peace was founded in 2004 in Frederick, Maryland. Its main goal is to help to promote understanding of UNESCO’s mission and ideals through events, winter and summer programs and conferences to raise a new generation of peacemakers, placing Human Dignity at the center of its activities and striving to make peace culture a product of everyday life through Education, Science, Culture and Communication.

OBJECTIVES

Youth empowerment

Delegates will recognize participation as a key objective of citizenship and an essential element for progress.

Public Speaking and Negocitation

Delegates will improve their public speaking skills and learn about body language and soft skills through workshops and activities.

Interdisciplinairy

Delegates will learn to combine multiple expertise areas in order to find practical solutions to different real-world challenges.

WHAT IS THE

PROGRAM ABOUT?

During 2 weeks, future peacemakers will face challenges of cultural identity, diversity and intercultural communication, addressing various issues of discrimination and inequality.

Participants will also focus on the fields of science, human rights and globalization in their economic, political and cultural spheres, in order to structure more effective sustainability practices.

ABOUT LOCAL PROJECT

UCP SUMMER CAMP 2023

DESCRIPTION

UCP Local Project is an educational project focused on the development of specific competencies needed in formulating and executing Community Projects. It offers training spaces and steady guidance to help students acquire managerial and technical skills.

LEARNINGS

UCP Local Project activities will allow students to acquire abilities, knowledge and experience in organizational management, business administration, time management, communication and negotiating skills, budgeting, fundraising, pitching and marketing, among others.

VIRTUAL AND ON-SITE ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

The STEAM program will offer a series of very practical workshops that will educate students about the scientific and technological tools we have at our disposal and how to use them for peace and sustainable development.

The Model of the United Nations seeks to carry out a simulation of the work done at the United Nations. Students/delegates research a current issue and seek innovative solutions on behalf of a country.

STRENGTHENING TALENT…

Our simulations helps students to learn negotiation, persuasion, writing and public speaking skills in an environment of tolerance and respect for diversity.

…TO TRAIN FUTURE LEADERS

Students will learn how diplomacy and understanding the general overview plays a fundamental role in international peacekeeping and will explore different topics while they are able to build stronger opinions on some subjects. They will also explore the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its goals.
